Inferno

A fortress squats
in the barren desert.
Soldiers of the East
stand guard outside.
Farmers plant seedlings
fruitlessly in the hot sand.
Their wide pointed straw hats
out of place in this land.
Agony rips the silence.
The air is filled
with a young soldier’s cries.
The obscene laughter of his torturers
rise.
In the distance
a Great Lion appears.
He walks down the high dunes
past the fortress guards,
through the [...]
